Our Baby Boy

Kyle turns 21 on the 20th. He was born on a Monday (Presidents Day)1989. Everyone use to tell me he was too cute to be a boy. Grandma Anna use to say he looked just like a little bug with his big brown eyes peeking out at everything, those brown eyes now green. We use to call him bug! As he got older I use to call him buffalo(don't know why).

Kyle's first baseball hat, he had to start somewhere! I am so bad about putting dates on pictures, he was about 3mo old.

My very favorite picture of all time! Kyle was sitting at his little picnic table grandma and grandpa Shugart made him for Christmas. He was sitting out on our balcony and it was a nice warm day out, very warm for a winter day. Cool inside but we didn't need the heater and outside there was a very slight breeze kinda cool in the shadows, but if you sat down in the sun you could just feel the warmth on your face and arms and get shivers from it because it felt so good. You could hear the WHOOCOO! from the quail and you could smell the orange blossoms! We had just gotten back from a trip to Snowflake and at that time of year you can tell when you are getting closer to Phoenix because the smell of the orange blossoms hits you right at Fountain Hills, and if the timing is right you can see the Fountain from the Beeline Highway. It was a perfect day, Kyle sat eating a snack at his new table and I sat thinking how the day was perfect just like the day we had brought Kyle home 11 months before.
Phoenix usually gets a warm spot mid January to mid February right before we get March winds and rains. So every time we get a nice day like that when I can HEAR the sun on my face I think of the day Jack carried that car seat up to the second floor of our little studio apartment. Could I have predicted that 21 years later he wouldn't be spending his 21st birthday in the Arizona sun but the snowy cold of Minnesota (high of 23 today) playing at the Metrodome, not in a million years, but I did know Kyle would always make us proud!
